The 988 Awareness Project Partners with Father Joe’s Village Homeless Shelter

The 988 Awareness project recently sponsored the annual Halloween party at Father Joe’s Village, the largest homeless shelter in Southern California, to offer a fun event for the residents and also to spread the word on the life saving resources the 988 number provides. “Suicide rates among homeless populations are estimated at nine times that of the U.S. general population,”, said Liam Kaseburg, President of California Operations for the 988 Awareness Project “As part of my work with Father Joe’s, I was able to provide the shelters with lifesaving materials across all the facilities in San Diego to spread awareness for the 988 number to this extremely vulnerable community.”

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of several individuals who participated in our fundraising efforts to provide a great party for the residents. “We are truly grateful for your support and for the amazing work that the 988 Awareness Project is doing.
