Continuing our efforts to provide lifesaving materials to the homeless population in California, the 988 Awareness Project recently partnered with Burrito Boyz in San Diego to distribute 988 resources on Sunday mornings. For the past 15 years, the Burrito Boyz and a cast of mostly teen volunteers have served over 300,000 breakfast burritos, water, fruit, granola, books, reading glasses, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, clothing, and now 988 lifesaving materials.

“Suicide rates among homeless populations are estimated at nine times that of the U.S. general population,”, said Liam Kaseburg, President & Chair of the 988 Awareness Project. “As part of our work with Burrito Boyz, we were able to provide warm beanies with the 988 number printed on them. We help our homeless friends be a little more comfortable, and they help us spread the word while wearing the beanies.”
